Hammocks are increasingly used in many different kinds of therapeutic practices. Supervised rocking and turning of the child or patient in the hammock will train and develop his sense of balance. Also motoric disturbances and perception troubles can be treated in a hammock.
Hammocks are also more and more used as learning aids and have shown very positive effects on children suffering from dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Children and handicapped persons should only use hammocks without spreaders. Moreover, their hammocks should be plain cloth (no net) and have no fringes.
